   Highlights - 14th October 2005  
 
  • The largest ever Indian exhibition concluded on 14th October 2005. As reported earlier the exhibition started on 12th October, 2005 and was attended by VIPs from Mexican side as well as the Minister of State for Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Mr. E.V.K.S. Elangovan.

  • Exhibition was a break through in trade relations between the two countries since it was an event where not only the participation from Indian side was more than 200 exporters of engineering goods and services but also a very active participation from Canacintra, a trade body in Mexico which was having more than 35000 members in their hands mostly comprising of manufacturing engineering sector.

  • The exhibition was also a unique event since it witnessed a very proactive cross section of Mexican business community interacting with Indian counterparts and discussing not only on Joint Ventures and technological upgradation opportunities but also alternate sources of imports to Mexico which was dominated by imports from USA and other developed countries and China. The total number of business visitors on the 3 days was more than 6000 and 1000 fresh contacts were established during the exposition between the Indian exporters and Mexican counterparts. Serious business enquiries generated and contracts concluded was estimated to be more than US$ 1 million and on the spot sales was also reported to be over US$ 100 thousand.

  • Another feature of the event was a seminar addressed by Mr. Rodrigo Alpizar Ballejo, President – Engineering Sector, Canacintra with cross section of Indian exhibitors on the opportunities available in various fields of exports.

  • As a follow up measure a Mexican delegation is expected to visit India sometime during February 2006.

  • At the concluding debriefing session, Mr. Rakesh Shah, Chairman of the Council greeted all the members, who participated in the exhibition on their success and the Ambassador of India to Mexico, Mr. Rajiv Kumar Bhatia also complimented the Indian exporters and the Engineering Export Promotion Council for organizing this unique event.
